FileVault is the macOS disk encryption technology that ensures that your data can't be read by someone else, if for example, you lose your Mac and the disk is removed and tried to be read from another Computer. 

Step-by-step guide

To check to see if your Windows 10 computer's disk is encrypted:

  1. Open System Preferences... from the Apple Menu
  2. Choose Security & Privacy
  3. On the FileVault tab, check to see if FileVault is turned on for the disk... is showing (as per the screenshot below).

If FileVault is not turned on, you can turn it on if you have administrative privileges. Remember to keep the FileVault Recovery Key safe; you may need this in future to un-encrypt your disk.
